64 Skylark swap?

Hi new to the board. I have a 64' Skylark that I have been thinking about swaping an 86-87 turbo V-6 and 200r4 trans in rather than a 455. I have always liked the GN's but have never owned or worked on one. I would like to have a 11 second car at some point. Can those with experince give me some pointers and tell me how difficult this might be?

Thanks Mark

Thanks Windmill. I may take you up on that. I have the car with a 300 v-8 and 2 speed right now just upgraded to Hotchkis springs and Intro wheels. Shopping for a engine and trans now.

This is my car. I have had the car since 1998. I think I am one of the first ones to have done that swap. If you have any questions about doing that swap with a GN motor or a 455 Buick feel free to private message me.

Add another to the list...

I picked up this 64 on Saturday and plan to do the swap, then start with the rest of the car...Warning, shes really rough around the edges, but solid throughout.

Nice ride

Aside from the engine, what other parts from the TR ended up in the project?

Any specs as far as rear, suspension, steering, etc. ?

I want to get all the available parts off of my donor before I scrap it out.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Good choice. I think you will be happy that you went with the Skylark over the Vega project. There is something cool about keeping it "all Buick".
Your about where I was 3.5 years ago (not that it will take you that long - i'm just a bit slow) and it is a big plus that you have an entire donor GN to work with - that will save you $$$ -no doubt. Good luck..
