Here are some pictures from Daytona this weekend. Cruised up the interstate doing about 75mph at 2000rpm. What a change!

Y'all are making me wonder if I'm doing the right thing swapping from 2.92's to 3.42's in my Vega. Am I going to be sorry I'm running gears that low in the Vega?

Thanks,
Dave

If your car is light and you are running short tires to begin with I'd use the gears you have.

Good luck putting down the power with 205's

I would think more tire than that would be needed to control tire spin.

Mike- when are you planning on taking it to the track to test?

That's the biggest thing that will fit on a 15" rim behind a Vega without tubs.

8.8 rear

If your thinking about an 8.8 rear instead of a Viper this pic of an 8.8 with a Explorer cover is interesting.
Could use the same welded in mounting plate Mike used, but with the bushings mounted into the plate.
This would save the welding on the Viper cover.

Dont know the width of the 8.8 , so the T2 & 3rd gen axle setup may not work.
The all Mazda parts axle, is a very clever idea, so may be ok with spacers etc.

Just planting a seed for future swaps.
