| Geo SS Hood Scoop Got the hood back from the body shop finally. He did this on the side so it took him over a month to do it. The scoop itself is off a Camaro SS that was parted out. The front of the scoop (the horns) were cut off and re-molded in glass. We contoured that and the scoop itself to the Metro hood. I welded the wiper squirter holes and the factory hood latch hole shut. The cold air box is made out of aluminum and seals to a short section of 4" al tubing I flared and flanged to seal up to the box. The seal itself is made using black closed cell foam about 1" thick. The box captures a flat panel K&N filter and is bolted to the hood. When you lift the hood, the only thing left on the motor is the short, flared 4" tubing. I wanted most of it to go up with the hood so it didn't hide the motor. My 9.32 was ran with the filter in place so I don't believe it's a restriction. Hood from front On the front end stand Lower shot of it on the stand Getting close to getting a color, that has been really hard to decide. Ins spite of some slight progress, I highly doubt that the car will be painted by Nats. I've still got to pull the motor and put a new cam in it. There's a buddies Regal in my garage right now getting a head gasket replaced. I've also been bitten by the dirt bike bug and am looking for a racing 250 4 stroke now. Sold the mini-chopper for a 150 but I can't get by with something so slow. (I told you so !!!) |

| The 250 4 stroke will be A LOT more fun than a 150 Dirt bikes are fun, although I get a lot of flak when I ride on road bikes. They say "Dirt rubs off, when asphalt rubs in"... Oh well my choice. The hood scoop looks great! There is one guy that did the same thing with a Datsun Z hood and it looks absolutely awsome! I'm thinking of doing the same to my Z hood for a little practice with FRP. !M! |
