91 RS...thinking about GN power

I have a 1991 Camaro RS (305 TBI Auto). I converted it to carb before the 305 puked on me. I had cut out most of the engine bay harness since I didn't need most of it and the AC was deleted. Now I have an empty engine bay awaiting something more powerful.

I am currently considering the following options...

A. 3.8 GN stock setup using the 700R4 with a BOP adapter and TTA mounts. I belive I would have to get a custom downpipe, but no biggy. Biggest question is, what kinda of octane would I need to use (87,89,91) and what kinda mileage would I get? Also what would be a good stall converter?

B. L98 shortblock, LT4hotcam, Pro lightning heads,TPI and stealthram hybrid setup, and 1.6 roller rockers. Over 400hp but expensive and labor intesnive. Will require new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new fuel injection parts, holley 950 commander and alot of other junk.

C. 350 goodwrench carb setup modified with vortec heads and comp cam XE 274 cam. Another proven 400hp, but not very fuel efficent and the non roller cam will go out at 100k miles.

D. LS1 swap, great mileage, decent power, big cost for a used swap.

I honestly can not decide. I am teetering between options A and C. What would you do?

me personaly i would go with the g/n swap it's the one that will bring the crowds to your car when u open the hood.but if you dont have a way to get the engine cheap you my friend are going to spend a sh*t load of money finding all the right parts to make it work.olso on a camaro if you are going to install a buick drivetrain you must cut into the pass. side frame .the downpipe will not clear if you dont.i have one allready done it did'nt take me long to do the swap but i had allready done my homework i had gone to the junk yards and measured engine bays ,motors,driveshafts,etc...etc...etc....so when it came time to do my swap all that needed to be done was just tighten down bolts and integrate the harrness ( one whole day 2 get right ).i have a couple pic's 4 u to see...

You might want to think about a strut tower brace after weakening the unibody. I couldn't cut into my chasis, and the TTA's didn't have this modification, atleast not that I know of. Is it the GN heads or did you use GN mounts instead of tta mounts?

Thanks for the pics.

they are gn heads and exaust manifolds..and i dont think i need the tower brace. car has been together for like 5 years .it's a daily driver about 200 to 300 miles a week.if there was going to be any body tweeking i think it would of happened allready

motor mounts are off of a regal with a regular 3.8 n/a
