TH400 users Caution about burnouts: viewer discretion advised

I have come across some important info about doing burnouts and the harzards that can happen. It is important that you do not shift 1-2 during the burnout or the sprag can break and the drum goes into orbit. If you have a transbrake 400 use 2nd gear for your burnout, start in 2nd gear and go to 3rd if you want it wont hurt it.

Would you belive I just had this same discussion with another Member

The main reason for a manual Valve body is to be able to select 2nd

Most prefer to start in 3rd out of the water

thats with a fully built tranny and lots of HP

always shifted my Th400 2-3 . started in 2nd shifted into 3rd as I rolled out of the burnout . I remember this topic being somewhat covered a long time ago on the other board . and the guy who built my Th400 trans told me the exact samething the day I picked it up . .

C' mon Dan. You know a 2004R can't handle a 9.94 blast at 138 MPH.

if you have ever seen a TH400 drum/sprag , you could most likely hurt or kill a person just by throwing it at them hard enough . never mind if it exploded out of a trans .

drum is about a 5" dia chunk of steel and has a bit of weight to it . .

I know Several that have been doing this also.

The Sprag will Bunch up into it's self.

I personally saw this at the Track in Ohio.

It was a $1000 36 element sprag too

Come out of the water in 2, you can't hurt it on the 2-3 shift
