Mike, I watched that one and a few others. Trick seems to be to do it correctly.
Paul I'll split a set but that stainess brush is a must they say. Dont know where to find that by itself? Maybe they will sell 2 of them?

Mike, I watched that vid as well. I ended up yelling at the computer screen, "heat the metal more dick head !" (I've had the cold from hell for the last few days, and am a bit cranky.) First vid lays it out pretty good.

Dave Maybe they can be sweet talked into supplying 2 brushes, since we are going to be the initial "testers" for our "hobby club"
Otherwise, I'm hoping Princess Auto has them, or a local welding supply place.

you can get SS welding brushes anywhere . I've even seen them at NAPA on their welding display rack .

Yes , did a ton of research on this crap and stopped into about 6 Guitar stores in Toronto during the day while I'm driving around suppositly working , taking to people and listening to different setups on similar guitars and not so similar guitars . The set up will be a Seymour Duncan Sh-5 Custom Humbucker on the Bridge and a Seymour Duncan SH-2n Jazz on the neck . Killer tone set-up for Metal and Rock . and I'm also installing a Vintage Les Paul electronics upgrade kit from RS Guitar Works .That should pull some nice sound out of it as well . I was going to go with the Seymour Duncan Active Black Outs or EMG's . but.. I didn't want him having to deal with battery issues at his age . and from what I was able to gather the sound on the SD Black Outs maybe a little to clean on the highs . almost like comparing listening to recorded music on Vinyl vs CD . you loose those warm undertones from a active pickup vs passive IMO . when I'm done getting this Guitar set up with goodies it should sound KILLER for my nephew !!!!!! I just can't pull something out of a box and not Hot Rod it . and after the upgrades are installed at the guitar store . My nephew and I are going to pick it up together . and he's going to plug it into a big Marshall JHStack Jimi Hendrix Signature Amp in the store . Turn it up to a Spinal Tap number 11 on the volume knob and let her RIP ! . Can't leave the store without testing it out , can you now ? .

Sounds good. All that I have read they get rave reviews.

I think it is a good move to stay away from the battery powered stuff, but some of the guy are crazy and doing 18 volt mods

Who's going to do the install for you?

Just to throw gasoline on the fire... Does he have any effects pedals?

Just curious...what stores did you stop in at?
I'm looking for some pickguard screws and the places I stopped in on don't carry small screws :-(

Capsule and SongBird , Steves all get real good reviews for Guitar upgrades . I'll most likely go to SongBird or Steve's . I also have been emailing back and forth a private guy that works out of his home in the Gladstone N. of Queen area . Got his name from a big outfit that supplys rented gear to all the big name acts in Toronto . he's got good prices and does a lot of work for local bands . does not have that big store overhead . I went to Love Music , Long & McQuade (Oshawa and Toronto ) , Encore Music , The Place at Vic Park And Kingston Rd , Steve's .

Yes.... I bought him a very cool "Zoom" Multi Effects Pedal about 4+ months ago off of Ebay .

Here's the guy in the Gladstone N. of Queen area . he's should be fairly close to you and maybe able to help you out . His web site has a pic that shows a box labeled "Guitar Screws" .

Well it just goes to show you that if you can't pronounce aluminum correctly, you can't braze it together either.

I got my last wood handled S/S brush from Crappy Tire... it was a few bucks IIRC. I got some smaller ones (toothbrush style) from Princess Auto; I have tough plaque and tartar build up.
