Talking Got Kicked Off The Track Today…

Surprisingly I never made a pass, in fact I never even managed to get tech’d in.

Turns out that the owner of St. Thomas Dragway didn’t like something I wrote, an opinion, and wanted to have a talk with me. As such I wouldn’t be allowed to race until said meeting took place. So after hanging out by the track for an hour or so… the owner showed up carrying with him a post off of this messageboard. Now I am hardly a nieve fool, so it took little deduction at this point that someone (or some people) had brought this to his attention. After a rather brief, and somewhat heated discussion, I was told I was to be given a refund for my admission and to leave the premises.

There was one interesting bit of information thrown in my face during my trackside meeting. It seems that there were a few behind the scenes communications made to the owner, thus bringing my opinion to light. Now it seems that this wasn’t simply an isolated incident, but rather seven separate efforts. 4 emails and 3 phone calls. Phone calls? Some of you actually spent the money for long distance phone calls to get me busted over an opinion? I am flatered. I never knew that my attitudes and opinions touched such a nerve? Or perhaps you gentlemen (and I use the term loosely) are just a little too lonely and needed some human contact?

Now you would be thinking by now that I am a little cheesed off that I didn’t get to play with my car today. Well, I am not. I wish my friends’ and family’s efforts to get the car together for today had not been wasted. But, what really gets me is that I have become a victim of the two-faced, double-talking, backstabbing nonsense that this community (again used loosely) is infamous for. It really is weak and pathetic. Reflecting magnificently on you all as a whole, and I can only speculate who would have such a trivial axe to grind. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions, because I don’t care enough to follow up on this.

One member of the community asked me while I stood by the track waiting for my confrontation with management if I was going to say “I am sorry” in an attempt to stay and play. “Hell no”, was my response. There was no way I was about to compromise my integrity over something as minute as drag racing. You see, as this may be the highlight of you miserable lives, it is just a past time for me. I will say this in closing, I have the utmost regard and respect for the track owner (Dave, I believe his name is) as he, unlike you jokers, actually had the testicular fortitude to stand toe to toe with me and tell it like it is. Like I do, every damn day. Perhaps you all can learn something from him? Probably not.

So, if you see me on the street, at a show, at the track or anywhere for that matter. Don’t look at me, come up to me, talk to me or otherwise acknowledge my presence, because I will be cetain to ensure that you don’t exist. Just save yourself the embarassement and move on.

I am out of this community.

Warmest regards.

Very sorry for the bullshit you had to go through Mike. You have always been one of the good guys from my observations. I know you don't need this of me... but I will be the first to stand up and say that this had nothing to do with me.

Best wishes and take care,

Ravi

Like I said to you today Mike, we all think it. You just spelled it out.

I have a hard time believing seven people took the time to contact the track.

Someone is pulling your wire.

What????

So who the hell would bother to go out of their way for that? [to call or email and "rat"]. If I don't agree with an opinion it passes by my eyes by my brain and into the land of lost air molecules.

I am, and have always been, neutral on St Thomas. I basically agree with both sides. It is an old track, and sometimes the prep ain't the greatest. But they just got hit with a stupid lawsuit too not long ago too.. Lawyers aren't cheap... i'd have been pretty bummed out if the place closed. But it didn't.

But, for me, it's really my only place to go.. well, no, it's not, [Grand Bend] but ya know something.. I prefer running there because most of the time it's not jam packed with people. I'd rather battle traction a little then wait an hour or more in line. And, I dunno, that day that they opened last November for that last chance thingy, ULLUZE [Dan from Windsor] was cutting LOW 1.60s all day long on a GN with wore out 26 x 8.5" slicks on steel GN wheels with the front sway bar on, and I pulled the wheels about 4 times with my old black LX, and killed my posi unit... Alot of times a persons car not hooking well, is the car too.... St Thomas has always had a nice laid back atmosphere whenever I have went too.

And NO, I wans't one of the "rats" [cause I happen to like St Thomas] - I was busy swapping a new tranny into the SVO today, in the hopes that I could maybe go race next weekend, however this tranny NO GOOD too.....

You TO guys are close to Cayuga so you can go there too... If St Thomas closed i'd be bummed out cause that's pretty much where I like to T&T at. So I guess while I wish they'd spray some trac bite down more often, I still like the place.

Is this your idea of a prank Mike?
It's hard to believe that someone would actually do this.

MHM,

I am a little surprised with you, I would have thought that you would NOT have left after paying your money, at least without getting paid for your fuel and time to get there. If you paid then you were in, if they WANT you to leave, then you should have made them make it worth your while to leave, ie. return your entrance fee and at the very least pay you for your fuel that you used to get there and possibly for your time to drive from Toronto to Sparta and back. Oh well, I guess you are getting a little soft in your old age.

Mike, I have said it before, and I'll say it again. I think your a cool guy and the buick world is lucky to have you. Don't change for anyone. Like Paul said, I'm surprised you let them kick you out without more of a fight.

Good luck, and by the way I called that place about the bezel and some woman said a man would call me back and he never did. I will try them again this week, sorry for the delay.

You know Paul i was thinking the same thing but there was a heated discussion according to Mike so when did the banning take place.
And Mike you are the first one to get banned from a track for not even making a pass. I guess expressing an opinion is a safety issue.
I for one Mike commend you for doing it your way and seven people do not make a community so leaving is only giving those people what they want.

I think someone is yanking his chain about 7 people writing or calling or whatever.

If not, and that is infact the case, then I don't blame Mike for washing his hands of it all, that's a whole bunch of drama

Mike, that suxthebag...some people just aren't happy unless they are causing drama. Thing that gets me is playing silly bitch with someones track time. Who's dick are they on?
Glad I'm out here..1 of 6 G/n and T-types on Vancouver Island.
