Where can i find an 86/87 GN motor/drivetrain in the GTA

hi guys. i'm new to this forum and I'm also from Toronto. I joined because I find that all the GN guys have forgotten more about turbos, efi's etc than ricers can ever hope to learn or flap their gums about. I'm planning a budget 3.8 turbo project to put in a daily driver/sleeper. it will either go in an '80 cutlass or a vega (if i can find one). Where can i find an 86/87 GN motor/drivetrain in the GTA that I can rebuild for a good price? How much should I expect to pay?

welcome .drop Fred aka "turbo heaven" (Oshawa area) a email . he has a complete high mileage stocker reading to come out of his ride to make room for his new engine . I better let him tell you what he wants for it . I wouldn't want to miss quote him on his asking price .also Jamaican Paul (Pickering area) has a engine for sale as well in need of a rebuild (email me and I'll pass his phone number on to you/not sure if he has a email address ) . expect to pay anywhere from $600+ and up for a complete (intake to pan) GN turbo engine . good luck .

WARNING : be prepared for a large drop in your bank account when you start playing with these Turbo Buicks . it's like Crack ! lol

$600 and up for a complete motor? Did I read that right? Not in my experience... Trust me, I'm learning the hard way that these cars are indeed expensive! "Fast with class" comes at a price. But hey, they are a lot of fun too...

lol ,believe me from my experience I know what things cost to buy and what they sell for . if you get lucky you may get one for that much . one in need of a complete rebuild or one that has some fairly heavy internal damage. when I say complete , I'm NOT refering to the turbo , exhaust manifolds, cross over pipe, IC , fuel rail, wiring harness, etc, all being included . J Paul as I recall is asking $800 for his . as far as I remember it is what "I" refer to as complete (intake/pan). it maybe missing the intake , best to phone Paul and get the info on it .

Um, then you are clearly talking to the wrong class of Sport Compact enthusiasts. Quite frankly they (potentially) know more than we do about making power without significant displacement. Our cars are technological dinosaurs in comparision to the modern world of speed.

Don't get me wrong, there are some real dopey people in the S/C world. But, the same can be said for the Turbo Buick community as well.

---

On topic:
Just because you have an engine doesn't mean you are ready to run. You'll need a fuel system, wiring, ECM & chips, relays, tranny, and so on. Quite frankly your only three options are:
1) Buy a complete clean Turbo Buick and enjoy it.
2) Buy a basket case and use it as a donor car.
3) Buy somebody elses hybrid car and save yourself the hassle.

There is NOTHING "budget" about these cars. Nothing.

Whoa.... You guys are confusing me.... $600 is a good price for a motor in need of a rebuild though. Could you email me Jamaican Paul's contact info? I also remember hearing about some Trinidadian guy(s) in Brampton who specialize in GN motors. Apparently they are the guys who did a Porche GN swap... Thinking about it now, maybe I should try to find a basket case or a write-off. I can always make some money back from parts left over.
thanx guys

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

I am sorry that is the incorrect answer.

Paul @ Splitfire built a Datsun, not a Porsche.

Little Mike (Big Mike and I know him), built the 944 (or is it a 928 (924?)) with the Stage II engine.

Don't mess with the guys from Brampton! ;)

The last time I saw it, it was sitting on jack stands in his garage.
