| Hi all, This weekend, I took a look at an 87 Burgandy "T". It's needs work... but I think it has potential. Here is the description: 87T, hardtop, totally stock motor with 125km/~60,000 miles(authenticated), interior (8 out of 10), solid frame, posi, pw/pl (very limited options) what it needs: front bumber, both doors, passenger rocker panel, both 1/4 panes (in front of rear tire), driver side floor, exhuast, major tune. The seller said a potential buyer did a compression test, and he said there is one low cylinder!!! I was going to give this guy a real low offer. In your "honest" opinion... what do you think this car is worth. dave (like I need another car)

| SCONE WIZARD... | Is that the one in the Autotrader.ca for $4900? Wonder how it would have a low cylinder with only 60000 miles? With your description.. I wouldn't pay much more than a couple grand for it.. My reasoning being that *IF* the motor has one low cylinder... the engine has to be gone through.. The body sounds like it needs lots of work.. It could go either way.. Parts car or resto.. Now, if you were to do your own compression test (I would just to satisfy my own eyes) and the motor was GOOD.. and tranny shifts and works great.. i'd definately pay more.. Maybey $3-3500.. Seeing as how now you're just doing a [somewhat expensive] body job. That's me anyways ![]() Good luck. ------------------ Steve Ruston 1987 Turbo Limited |

| Steve. Yes, this is the car that's in the Auto Trader fopr $4900. He had it for $4500 in the Buy & Sell about a month ago. I posted the same over on "turbobuick.com" and many responded by saying it might cost just as much finding a rust free low milage TR vs a rust TR that needs about $3000-5000 in body & paint. Plus the motor is iffy. I would have to go back and do compression check plus check out those codes (engine service). I didn't bring anything with me except for my overalls. Even if I bought it as a parts car and parted it out, I don't know how much I would get in return. The motor is totally original but there is no hi-po parts to take!!! Maybe I can really low ball him and put the motor into my 81 malibu... which is in much better condition. dave

| some words of wisdom from a person that does not follow them.it's cheaper to buy one already in way better condition than fixing one up . I think alot of us know that . But isn't great waiting for the UPS man to pull up to your house .[This message has been edited by KWIKR 1 (edited August 29, 2001).]

| I would drop him an offer of $2000 and see if he bites. I will give you $1000 for the drivetrain as is. I am thinking of building a little project car this winter. E-mail me if you get it.
