| It was all the timing chain and cam. Back in the day when I new very little about these cars I installed all Kenne Bell internals in the engine. Going over my reading materials that came with the cam and chain I understand that the cam was a 4-degree advance grind. Adding to this the double roller timing chain and sprockets had three keys to choose. 0-degrees, 4-degrees advance, 4-degrees retard. The instructions were confusing. Kenne Bell suggested that if one has one of their cams, (which I did), they'd suggest using 0-degrees or 4-degrees advance. I played it safe and used the 0-degrees as per instructions. Bad choice! The instructions mentioned vaguely that choosing 0-degrees was actually another 4-degree advance allowing for chain stretch. Combining this with the cam grind I'm actually running 8-degrees more advance than OEM. Realizing this error I removed the chain and reset it to 4-degrees retard. Bam!! No more detonation. I set the timing to 15-degrees and I have a slight but barely audible knock only under a heavy punishable load, (pretty much like new cars when one slams on the accelerator). This is tolerable and normal.

| I already started modifying a spare Q-jet I have. I bored out a water port to the left boost venturi. A spare pull-over enrichment tube from a duel jet will fit perfectly, the one I made I cut too short. I'll see if Eric has a beat duel-jet hanging around so I can nab the internal P/O tube. It has the perfect orifice size of .020. This P/O brass tube has a length of 2.50 inches. Coupled at the booster venturi this should cause a perfect vaporization with a consistent flow rate. This should work. The worst that could happen is no effect. ![]() But I'm highly certain that this will work. I'll post pics of the mod only if I'm successful. I do need another tank similar to a radiator overflow container. A trip to the local bone-yard should yield me something. I need at least a 1-2 gallon capacity. ![]()

| Cool. Can't wait to hear your results after alky . Still kickin rocks waiting to track down another carb turbo. Found a lead on 2 but one is a parts car as far as I'm concerned and the other no longer is turbo but is in good shape has floor shifter and most of the underhood turbo stuff. Supposed to find out about that one next week. Rather go carb'ed turbo that Dodge'd turbo![]() |
