| 78-80 Sport Coupe trunk emblem i have seen a couple of inconsistencies on this. 1978-80 Sport Coupe emblem that goes on the trunk, where does it go? I scoured factory manuals (dealer albums, parts manuals etc.) and cannot figure out where this badge goes on the trunk. There are pics from members on other sites that I have searched, but it is a little "hazy" to see. I have seen the 3 variations below ( this is as if you were looking at the trunklid, the emblems would be placed on the passener side in the configs below) __________________________________________________ _ [Buick] [Sport Coupe] __________________________________________________ _ or __________________________________________________ _ o [Sport Coupe] [Buick] __________________________________________________ _ or __________________________________________________ _ o [Sport Coupe] [Buick] __________________________________________________ _ Also what would the spacing be between the emblems Thanks in advance

| Those aren't links, as I don't have any pics. This was an attempt at ASCII art. The emblems are in the configurations as they appear in my previous message. Sorry for any confusion.

| I show the SportCoupe nameplate is located on the right side(passenger) of the trunk lid on all 1978-1982 SCs. I'm not 100% for sure if there was also a Buick nameplate used.

| hmm Do you have any pics of what its supposed to look like? The car I have is pretty much unmolested and completely bone stock. I bought it off the grandkids of the original owner, only has 77,000miles. Just doesn't even look like there was ever one there. cj |

| It's the same one used on the front fenders.

| All I have are pictures of the sides of my old 1979 Regal Turbo Sport Coupe From my 1979 Turbo Sport Coupe... I know I don't have the rear of my old car pictured, but I do remember it only having a 'Buick' badge of the passenger side of the trunk. Also, the Sport Coupe emblems were on the side, nearthe door of each front fender. Here are the only pictures I could find of the car to scan. 1979 Buick Regal Sport Coupe (Turbo) - a set on Flickr I hope this helps. Best, Eric McCann Germantown, WI |

| Registered User | I looked in my '82-'83 GM Parts and illustration guide and I found they have a diagram with the trunk "Sport Coupe" badge on the LEFT of the "Buick" emblem. BOTH emblems are mounted on the right side of the trunk. So if this represents your trunk: [..............................] Then it should look like this: [..............."S.C." "Buick"] Of course this was for the '82-'83 cars. I can't imagine it was too far off for the earlier models. Good Luck! "D.L." ![]()

| Right on! I loved this car! I adored it and treated it with respect and spared no expense to make it what I thought it could be - which in the end was simply a Regal Sport Coupe with a 4-bbl carburetor, but this thing really felt a lot faster than 165 HP. My point of reference was limited though at the time since my first ever car was a 1979 231 V-6 standard edition Regal (not even including a radio). I cared for and loved that car since I had been 12 years old. At 17 I got the brown Regal Turbo Sport Coupe (which I paid for with my own money at the time) and found that one of the center (pasenger side) exhaust valve had a hole (literally a hole) in it, thus that cylinder constantly fouled out plugs. After the head wor was done, block punched .030" over, crank cut .010" under, and rebuilt 4-bbl Rochester with rebuilt AIResearch turbo, and a new Turbo 350 trans, this thi ng was a monster that nobody in my town wanted to mess with. In my opinion, it was a dog and thought that there was much more potential in that motor, thus the SFI Intercooled Turbo motor. I know there was another motor or two in between so please don't bust my nuts about it. I think I'm pretty good in terms of knowledge on the carbed cars, but now that I just bought a 1987 GN, I'm a little lost. I'm good with Megasquirt and have adapted that to another project (which also turned out to be a turbo project). That was a 1981 Fiat Spider 2000 - Turbo. Anyway, I'm glad to be back in the Buick turbo game again. It's bee way too long and I really missed it. I'm all ears to learn again and hope that by my experience having the carbed motors torn apart before that I may have something of value to offer in terms of knowledge. I look forward to speaking with each and every one of you. Best, Eric McCann Germantown, WI |
