Question for guys running Reed Cam/Lifters

Hey all,

I'm finally up and running with my Hot Air Vega project. Would be driving, too except the eng and trans is sitting back further than it did when the car had the NA V-6 in it. We tried to install the driveshaft yesterday, and it was too long by about 1/2 inch! I've been over on the hybrids forum mostly and on the main tech forum asking ignition questions.

Anyway, since a couple of you are running the custom-grind Reed cam and lifters I was wondering if they tend to be noisy. I'm getting a more-than-normal amount of valvetrain noise, but nothing I'd call severe. My only real concern is that it will trigger the knock sensor as false knock. Any experience here?

Thanks,
Dave

Reed is noise, I believe that it's in the #3 or 5 lobe. Chris Garrett had this problem and I think he had to reshim it.

I didn't re-shim it; I dumped it and went to an Erson. My only advice is to make sure you measure the preload properly. I think that's where most of the noise comes from if it's not done properly.
