| Why no N20? Always wondering, it doesn't seem like anyone runs Nitrous on their car's? I wasn't planning on using it myself, but was more curious... Any one have info/thoughts as to why?

| Nitrous works fine on these cars. 100 add'l HP at the rear wheels is a piece of cake with a single fogger nozzle. ![]() I can say however, turning up the boost will have the same effect. ![]()

| Alky/Meth/H2O Injection | yea i think with the GN there are a lot of other ways to make great power all the time instead of just on the bottle but you really can't get better bang for your buck than a shot of nitrous...

| Grim | Yes... I heads up racing it's going to be critical to have the boost almost instant. If your willing to run a way loose converter to do that then you'd be ok. I'm trying to enter the Pump Gas drags for next year and I'm not willing to give up the tight converter I have. I could have a company build me a trans that has a bypass internaly that adds a extra 1000rpm to your converter when engauged but we are talking 5500.00 for a tranny. That's not going to happen for several years for me. It's a perfect way to run a tight conveter and have the added stall you need to get spooled quick. I've not used the transbrake on my car yet so it may be better than the foot brake (from what I'm told) Lots of bugs to work out on the short end of the track for me. It may come down to busting out some old Nitrous stuff I've got laying around and use it to perk the engine up right off the bat and let off after 1st gear. Not sure yet but those guys on the Pump Gas Drag's don't mess around. You gota Bring it! ~Scott

| Nitrous and turbochargers are the perfect marriage. Once you've had a taste, you'll be hooked. I'm using a 190 shot on my car. It leaves the line like a naturally aspirated torque monster. I'll leave all that spooling drama at the line up to someone else.

| Don...brings a question to my mind. How does methanol spool a turbo compared to a gas engine? My mind says it would generate less heat and spin the turbo slower????????????? ![]()

I can't give you a fair answer to your question due to the fact that my setup is so different from the typical TR setup used by most. The obvious things that slow my turbo spool up regardless of the fuel are: Small stroke and displacement. 3.06" and 224 cid. Long and large ID primary tubular exhaust headers. High lift, long duration and high overlap camshaft. Low stall torque converter. The things that slow my turbo spool up with the use of alcohol are: A low static CR with methanol. 9.2 compared to a more typical 10 thru 12 to one for a blown alcohol application. You're right that methanol burns cooler and has a lower egt than gasoline. But the products of combustion (exhaust mass) are higher. That more than makes up for the lower egt. I'm currently running a mixture strength that gives me an egt of 1200 F at the end of the run.

| My whole configuration revolved around the planned use of using nitrous to spool the turbocharger. And the plan worked beautifully. ![]()
