A/F ratio with alky?

I want to put my car on a dyno, and need to know what a/f ratio to tune for.

Thanks

My car is pig rich at 10.5 when spraying methanol. I adjust to 11.4 with meth.

I would think you have it backwards
with alky you increase the cooling charge(octane rating)& injector duty cycle,so you should be able to do 11.5 with,10.5-10.9 without

No, he has it right.

Stoch for gasoline is ~14.7-1

Stoch for Methanol is ~6.4-1

Therefore, one has to run more than twice as much much methanol to extract the same amount of heat as from gasoline.

One use of alky is for charge cooling, but, the guys making serious power are spraying a lot more and using it for fuel as well as charge cooling. They do this because the "apparent octane" of methanol appears to be a lot higher than the 101 it averages on a gasoline octane engine.

The actual A/F is not some magic figure, however. The more power your car is capable of, the lower the number will be for optimum performance. That means you have to be able to tune with multiple runs until you find the number your car likes....it may be somewhat different than the next car unless the combos and power outputs are similar.

I cruise around 16 to 18-1. Have not done any experimenting in a number of years to zero in on what gives the best mileage.

Steve cruises around on the real lean side like I do with my ME-R chip which is adjustable for cruise, etc. but most chips do not cruise that lean, when it gets to lean you will feel the car buck a little while cruising.

Just to clarify.........10-1 is richer and 11-1 is leaner?

I'm at 10.8 at WOT all the way to 100 mp/h +, spraying.
