| Devils Own progressive controller installed. First off I'd like to say this car was made on a budget. It has made over 100 1/4 mile passes and hurt the feelings of many local street rodders. Up to date I have not spent over 7k total on this car. I'm not looking to win any appearance awards. The car does what it was meant to do and I have alot of fun with it. I wish I had the budget to make it as nice as some of the other hybrids on this board. With that being said.... I had already made my own DIY alcohol injection kit. (and no it's not pretty) pieced together from home depot, ace hardware, alkycontrol.com (thanks Julio!) and a few others... I'm only useing the Devils Own progressive controller. My kit was pieced together and for the price of a Devils Own complete kit I would DEFINATLY reccomend going that route. My setup would look alot nicer, and cost me less money if I did. But again, I'm not very concerned about cosmetics. Heres the install... not Pretty, but very functional. I used a 2.5 gallon gas tank as my methanol resevoir. Directly under it is s shur flo 1.8 GPM pump set at 160psi max. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../GNX7/tank.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../GNX7/pump.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1...NX7/nozzle.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1...7/IMG_1207.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1...GNX7/alky1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b1...6-21-05004.jpg Anyway this thing installed in less than an hour and I am running 22* total timing on 91 octane at 25lbs of boost! This is a te-61 turbo. I am getting no knock retard/detonation. And best of all There is no lag. I don't even feel this thing come on. System is set to come on at 3lbs of boost and ramp up pump voltage/pressure per lb of boost until it maxes out. EGT's have dropped about 250* or so. I'm at around 1560*. I'm sure with some more tweaking I can squeeze a little more timing and boost. Can't wait to get to the track again. With my previous single turn on hobbs switch I would get a large amount of lag when the kit kicked in at 12lbs or so. I could still run the same boost with the diy kit but it lagged my car down quite a bit before. I'll work on tweaking more timing and boost out of this controller. I am not bias in any way towards any other kits. I am just posting the facts & my opinion. And if down the road I have any problems you all will be the first to know. But As long as this little unit keeps doing what it is doing I must say I'm very hapy with it. ![]()
