| I just wanted to give a little free positive feedback in a public forum to Steve @ SMC Enterprises after purchasing his Alcohol Injection Kit; he was very helpful over the phone, answered all of my questions, and actually seemed interested in helping me with my drivability problem I had last month; for $399, it really is a well designed kit, and very easy to install; the wiring harness was inadvertantly left out of the kit when I first received it, and I had it in my hands in less than 48 hours; while installing the kit, I actually dropped the tank and cracked the switch that is mounted on it, and again, I had a replacement switch in 48 hours, no charge; the best thing is that if you go to his website, I can personally attest to his claim of running 23 pounds of boost on pump gas with only the first or second light on my knock gauge actually lighting up; I was a little skeptical at first, since I could only really run about 15 psi of boost before installing the kit, and I would have been happy running close to 20 psi of boost after the installation; I have a TA-60 and 009's with Red's Chip, and again after installing the kit, I can get 23 psi of boost on the VDO Boost Gauge; man, does this car pulls like a mother, and probably with a little tuning, I could probably run 24 or 25 pounds of boost, but I figure why push it? Anyway, I know that some members have posted questions on the board looking for recommendations on what Alky Kit to use, and I just wanted to give the benefit of my personal results/experience with this kit; I don't have anything to compare it to, however, after reading some of the nightmares posted on this board, it's nice to deal with someone who shows some interest in what you are trying to accomplish, is very helpful in the process, and whose claims of what their product can do are actually true and valid; just my 2 cents!!! |

| Free Information Kits | Nice to read kind words about one of the vendors but there's plenty of better Buick vendors out there IMO. All SMC has done is correct problems that should not have occurred in the 1st place. You guys are too easy. Maybe I need to start a Buick business. ![]()

| In case you are unaware, I'd like to inform you that you can build your own more reliable alcohol injection system for $175. Reliability is key. However, if you're all thumbs, you can get someone to install your $400 kit for you. yup

Note the qualification, "for the product he is selling". The other poster claimed that "Steve is one of the best". He did not claim he was the best. Let's not get too jealous over Steve's product. Jay Carter probably had more to do with introducing alky to the Buick crowd than anyone with his kit. You, Steve Hill & Dennis K, plus Bob AVellar have produced great home brew kits that flat out work. Joe Tripodi offered extremely high quality kits in a variety of do it yourself versions that were really neat. People bought the SMC kits in preference because they had to put Joe's together, but, thoses that did buy his were really happy. Steve, on the other hand, developed an easy to install, electronic controlled, simple kit that works very well that virtually anyone, regardless of fabrication skills can successfully install and use. He spent quite a bit of time and research coming up with the kit as the archives of the mailing list will attest. I think he deserves a bit more than grudging credit. I don't know why Buick vendors are not supposed to make a profit on their efforts, but, everyone would welcome a quality addition to the Buick vendor ranks. Maybe you could add downpipes to your repertoire as well? ![]()
