| Registered User | Alky question I am pretty ignorant when it comes to alcohol and its effect on our cars. I have a stock motor, fuel system, turbo. Can I just crank up the boost to, let's say 22 lbs, and everything will be ok as long as I spray some alcohol? Can I just dump as much boost as I want into the engine without any consequences as long as I'm not running lean? I thought higher octane causes more heat and can damage your pistons. Is this true for alcohol?? Thanks! Oh, and how effective will this mod be with a regular 'ol thrasher street chip? Thanks again for all the help! |

| I'll share my experience with you. With a stock turbo and 93 octane, I am pushing 20-22# of boost and I have had absolutely no knock since I installed the kit. As per Razor's instructions, I reduced my fuel pressure by about 3-4 pounds to compensate for the "extra burn". It is without question the single best mod you can purchase. I know little about the competitors but I can tell you that the product and service from Razor's alkycontrol is superior. Chris

| When I had a stock turbo, inj's, DP, I ran 22lbs max and ran some mid 12's on an old SMC kit. Been running his kit ever since without any problems. (3 years) Just watch for knock, and don't go too lean and you'll be alright. You really need to take it easy, and work your way up on the boost before trying to run those numbers though. Good luck. | Free Information Kits | First, the car has to be in good mechanical condition to support high boost. Then you have to have more than a stock fuel system to run over 20 psi. Upgrade the pump and hotwire it then when you have a knock gage / ScanMaster, you should be OK. I don't recommend it until the above items are covered. See the info on alky on the link in my sig.

| On a TTA, I, Mike TTA89, TTA1387(Rob Reese), and others have had great success with the thrasher 92. Its a BLM locked chip so tuning the wot fueling is basically messing with the fuel pressure regualtor. Put some 100+ octane gas in full concentration into the tank, start cranking up on the boost, 16...17...18.. 19.. 29.. watching for knock or abnormalities.. Eventually you'll encounter a spot where knock can no longer be tuned out. At this point your reached your limits with what you have. I cant remember how many low-mid 12 second passes I did on alcohol with a thrasher 92 chip, nitto drag radials.. At least a 100. Stock fuel pump will start having issues in the upper 12's, stock injectors will be maxed out in the middle 12's. But this is with a car in excellent state of tune, good plugs, good readings on scantool.. no rotten vacuum hoses, no drivability issues, etc. HTH |
