denatured or methanol best with SMC

Hello all,

I have the old style SMC kit. Does anyone know which is better for performance--denatured or methanol??

Thanks alot for your time,

Ravi,

You can NOT run methanol with your SMC kit, it will destroy the pump. You can and should run Denatured and there is a place North of the 401 and East of the 404 that sells it in 20 litre pails. If you need me to I can dig out my receipt and get the company name, address and phone number.

Good luck,

thanks

Thanks for the info Paul,

I had actually gotten a pail from Canadian Alcohol on Midland Ave. I just wasn't sure if it was better to go with Methanol.

Ravi,

That is the place that I got my alcohol from 2 years ago, I guess it is time to go back for another pail.

I had the same questions, so I wrote Steve - I got this back which conflicts with what you're saying:

You can use the methanol- but don't mix it with water and be sure to use the Klotz lube. (1/2 oz per gallon)

That is with the new style pump. I've ran about 2.5 gallons thru my SMC kit and all is well so far. I have a feeling that if I want to continue with Methonal - I'll be contacting Razor
