Radiator fluid for water injection?

I'm having a few space issues with the TR transplant in my rx-7. So I figure I could run a few of these ideas past U all.

I was just wondering if I could make a pick up for my DIY water injection right from the bottom of the radiator? I've heard from several places that radiator fluid already has alcohol in it and works as well or better than water. Anyone trying this? I figure my main problem would be keeping a food filter inline with the nozzle.

or...

Mount the pump and resevoir in the inside of the car, Then I'd just have to set some sort of purge switch to get the system primed?

Water is not a fuel. You will not make horsepower using water. That is why alky is good, it is a fuel and it doesn't rob you of power. Also, if you were to inject 100% water, water absorbs alot more heat than alcohol but then turns into the next phase, steam and your car runs hot. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I was more interested in the anti detonation aspect of it. I'll make more power adding boost. But I read that anti freeze already has alcohol in....can anyone clarify this?

Not a good idea!!

I don't think your engine will like that at all!!! If you have an engine with much blowby and the rad fluid gets past the rings and into the oil you will destroy the bearings in the engine. I have some cam bearings and main bearings that were treated to antifreeze and it isn't pretty. These are not from either of my cars but from a car that my dad worked on for a guy.

It might work for you but I don't think it would be worth the risk.

Windshield washer fluid has alcohol in it not antifreeze. It contains ethylene glycol.

Well, that sounds good enough for me. I'll stick with denatured and water. thanks.
