Common Goth, it takes a lot of knowledge to get oil of out of the ground and tons and tons of money upfront just for a hope that it's a success. Think of what profession needs to find the oil underground, then the people needed to engineer and produce the machines to extract it, those to run the rigs and distribution though piping it around the country etc.

I don't mind the profits when you see what it takes to get oil out of the ground 3 to 6 miles down and that without energy it's hard for Bill Gates to turn on a light to see his computer and begin his billion dollar empire.

What about a gallon of milk, same or more expensive than oil yet I used to visit my Uncle who'd milk the cows with basic education and tools yet we complain about oil 3 miles deep in the earth that eventually needs to show up at a gas pump in a completely different form.
