I agree 100%. I have a 2000 540. Awesome car. Rediculous maintenance. Head gasket popped in mine not long after I bought it. Cost muchos denaros to fix. Muchos. I would have tried it myself, but it required a few expensive specialty tools to mark and set the timing. It's a 4 cam interference motor with a variable cam phasing system (VANOS), so it is quite difficult to remove and re-install the heads.

Anyway, back on the original 135i subject - I just raced one at the track with my 540 last Wednesday...

read below!

Took the 540 to the track tonight... - bimmerfest - BMW Forums

If you're too lazy - I'll sum it up... I ran a best of 14.3 (not bad in a 4-door sedan!), the 135 ran a 13.88, but the driver was too aggressive at the lights and was wasting time with wheel-spin. I think it could run a much better time.

I should add - these cars aren't about straight line performance, as I'm sure most are aware. Live with a Bimmer for a while - you'll "get it", trust me. If you can get past the "co$t" of it all, that is (don't blame ya if you can't...)
