I've got quite a bit of 400+ SBC experience. I had one in a suburban tow vehicle for a long time, it was great, with the big truck radiator there were no heat issues. We also run many variations of them in our oval track cars, the heat issue can be helped some by adding an aux cooling line across the top of the intake from the from water jackets to the rear. Some guys have used reverse rotation water pumps with some success as well.

For a street car I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure there's a reason why it was in a caprice and not a Camaro....cooling is probably it.

My $.02 says not to worry about it unless your gonna make a monster out of it.
