If the TAI class isn't worried about being a budget race class, then they should be allowed to run a TE-70 turbo again with a minimum weight of 3600 lbs. Just thinking??
Why doesn't TSM allow alcohol injection? I would assume it was becasue they couln't police the liquid that was injected into the up pipe. Will TAI end up the same way??? |
Paul,
I think by the time you trailer a car hundreds of miles to go to an event to race it.. there is no longer a budget. The guys on a budget wont trailer a car 1200 miles. So the answer is easy on this.. I think if you can spool the turbo and be competitive.. doesnt matter what size turbo. Just keep them 3 bolt and the exhuast housing will dictate the rest.
I think the low participation in the recent years has been for this reason. Whereby you trailer a car for 1200 miles.. whats a 100 bucks in race gas? So the only way to make it bring up the car count will be limit the rules and increase the payout. The more rules.. the more conflict and policing. But I do agree on weight in the spirit of the cars being street cars.
Basically we're creating a TSM on pump gas without the rules. The payout will be the draw for running on 93 octane.
I'll talk with the vendors the next few weeks and get a handle of what parts they sell the most of, then rules can be made where they dont exclude anyone. I really hate rules.
