once the boost is as far as you feel like going then try timing
adding boost without proper fuel or octane may result in slower mph and broken parts
adding octane (ie race fuel ) and not increasing timing is a waste of fuel and you may run slower
you need to run boost and timing according to what the fuel type you choose and always tune for no knock
then by adjusting fuel and timing either up or down look for what your car likes by watching for increase or decrease in trap speed (hp) , a rich car generally will be slower than a well tuned car with just enough fuel ,
timing if upped within limits of what your fuel choice can support with no kr can increase hp and thus mph
lets say you choose to run 93 , typicall youll need to run low timing and low boost say 19/17 timing and maybe 17psi if its cool out
add a bigger intercooler and you may be able to get away with more boost
add alky or race gas and the timing and boost can be brought up as can boost ,
where your hp limit is will be be determined by your combo , your comfort level and getting it to the extremes without knock .
once your car can run cleanly through the traps and mph to its best then work on getting the bottom sorted out and try for lower 60' (traction)
with some good gas (100UL) you should have no problems reaching high 11s at 112+ if you can get traction and a decent 60'
btw ive always run the 82 housing and its nice but you may need a little help prespooling off the line if on stock converter , with a 2800 stall the bigger exhaust housing is not noticable as spoolup is instant |
Thanks Paul,
I just had to print that out for a reminder on race day, nice and clearly written. Thanks again, you are the master wrencher!
