When I bought my Lightning last year, I went to my bank to purchase it. I was already pre-approved for a loan but we also had to do a payoff on the previous owners loan. I was sitting in my bank with the previous owner and with the bank person on the phone with the loan company to make the payoff purchase. You would think banks do this kind of stuff all the time, but the bank person was in over her head and didn't know how to do all the paperwork.
I finally got fed up and wired the money (I didn't really need the loan) and told him I'd drive an hour to pick up the title at his house when the loan company mailed it to him. He wired the payoff money to his loan company the next day and I had the title in 3 days. Of course, I left the Lightning at my house in the meantime.
I was able to meet the guy and had the truck in my posession, and even then I was still edgy until I held the title in my hand. I couldn't imagine doing this long distance.
